Smile Essential gears up for Race for Life 2010

The team at Smile Essential are all gearing up to participate in the Race for Life on Sunday 13th June 2010 in Loughborough.  The charity is close to all our hearts and we are excited to be able to offer our support, to help Cancer Research UK carry on the amazing work they do.

Race for Life started in 1994 with just one event in Battersea Park in London and has gone from strength to strength. The 2009 series was the biggest yet with over 730,000 women taking part. This year on its 16th birthday, the charity hopes that thousands more women will come together to walk, jog or run the 5k course to help raise over £60 million to fund Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into all types of cancer

Lina, Dawn, Adele, Donna, Emilia and Karen are all busy in training for the big race and some of the team have gone a step further by changing their diets and lifestyles to help with their general well-being not just for the race day.  “I’m so proud to be part of something so special and looking forwards to the big day.  It gives me a sense of personal achievement knowing that we are all going to be helping to fund raise for such a worthy cause and having lots of fun along the way!” commented Dawn Massey.

1st Dental Practice in Leicester to achieve ‘Silver’ status

High standards of care at Smile Essential have been recognised by the British Dental Association BDA Good Practice Scheme. We have been a member of the scheme since 2003 and Smile Essential has now gained the top prestigious Silver Member Status. As yet there is no ‘Gold’!  Smile Essential has been included on a new national list of dentists noted for their good practice. Launched in 2001, the BDA Good Practice Scheme is based on nationally agreed standards of good practice.

Dentists Lina and Shrik Kotecha acknowledge that the BDA Silver Good Practice Award, along with the ‘Investor in People’ Award, is an accolade to the high standards achieved within the practice and has benefited both patients and staff. They said: The ‘Patient Journey’, from entering the front door to leaving after completion of treatment, has been analysed thoroughly. A large sample of patients have been asked to fill in a satisfaction questionnaire covering all aspects of the practice, from opening times and décor to staff attitudes and the clinical experience. The results were comprehensively analysed and alterations made, resulting in happier patients and staff.

The practice has been awarded the prestigious Silver Award of the BDA Good Practice Scheme. These awards are just a small part of our team’s commitment to providing you with the highest standard of dental care.

 

Wishing I was anywhere else is a thing of the past

‘Being dentally phobic, I was dreading my first appointment but the friend who recommended Lina to me assured me that my bad experiences would be a thing of the past. My first appointment came and I was a mess, scared, crying and wishing I was anywhere else but there.

 However the whole experience was better than I thought it would be and everything was done to make it less stressful. As my treatment started and throughout various appointments, I became less scared because I knew the experience would be bearable.

I will always be a dental phobic but I will never fear any appointments in the future, I cannot thank Lina enough for what she has done for me’

Payment plan was a massive saving

I would like to thank you for responding rapidly to my tooth dilemma and for the way you looked at my situation and went the extra mile, to ensure that my bridge was completed and looking great before an important interview.

Not only that, but thanks for going out of your way to fit me in for a temporary plate so that I felt comfortable and confident to attend a re-union with old friends whilst my bridge was being sorted out.  You really know how to treat your patients as unique individuals and listen to what they want.

I was pleasantly surprised that you do not talk your patients into costly additional dental work, but rather understand personal circumstances giving options and choices.  I particularly like the payment plan scheme which was a massive saving.  Excellent after care service and wonderful polite staff, I will recommend your services to friends and family no problem!

Dental phobia overcome thanks to Leicester dental practice

‘Thank you so much for the excellent care I received from Nik and his nurse.  I was terrified of coming to the dentist to the point of tears, my head was pounding with sheer fright, but Nik came and took me to the surgery and made me feel so relaxed.  Nothing was rushed, not even the treatment until I was ready, and Nik’s nurse was lovely to me as well.

Now after all the treatment I have had I will not be afraid to come to your practice again and will certainly be telling my friends about Smile Essential.

‘Dear Shrik and colleagues,

Just a note to once again say a big thank you, for making the last few months of my treatment at your practice a pleasant one and I would highly recommend this practice to family and friends.

I found that all members of staff there were pleasant and polite and I like the way in which you remember me on a first name basis.  I found that I got through my treatment a lot easier than I thought I would, and that is down to Shrik talking me through exactly what was going to happen from beginning to end, and making me feel less nervous.  You are also made to feel individually special, every effort was put in to make sure that I was happy with the final part of my treatment, I was over the moon with the outcome, and my new bridge is great’
